Catharina SIKOW-MAGNY joined the European Commission in 1997 and is currently the Director responsible for Green Transition and Energy System Integration in the Directorate General for Energy. Before that, she was the Head of Unit in charge of Consumers, Local Initiatives, Just Transition. Before that she was the Head of Unit responsible for Networks and Regional Initiatives. She has as well worked on international transport, trans-European network policy and financing, internalisation of external costs, and strategic policy research. Before joining the Commission, Catharina Sikow-Magny was a team leader and chief economist in the private sector in Finland. She has also worked for the United Nations Development Programme in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She holds a Master of Economics degree from the Aalto University, Finland.
Meet with the CORE FB MC project speakers
Marina NORDSTRÖM is the NEMO Co-chair of the CORE FB JSC. She is the Development Manager focused on SDAC topics at Nord Pool and has ten years of experience from working in the day ahead market.
Katerina NOVOTNA is a Communication Task Force leader of the Core Flow-base Market Coupling Project and a member of the NEMO Committee Reporting and Communication Working Group. Katerina is a market development specialist at OTE and worked previously as an advisor to the Vice-President of the European Parliament.
Manfred PILS is acting as Co-Chair of the CORE Flowbased Market Coupling Project since 2017. Since 2003 he was actively involved in the implementation of coordinated regional markets like the South-East European region (SEE), the Central-East European region (CEE), the Central-West region (CWE) and the Central-South-European region (CSE).
Manfred Pils was between 2009 and 2015 Head of the Supervisory Board of CAO, the CEE Capacity Auction Office and then responsible for the merging process of the two auctions offices CAO and CASC to the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) in Luxemburg. Manfred Pils was acting as head of the Supervisory Board of the Joint Allocation Office (JAO) from 20015 to 2016. Until 2019 Manfred Pils was also Member of the ENTSO-E Market Committee.
Until 2016 Manfred Pils was Director for Market Management and Regulation of the Austrian Transmission System Operator company Austrian Power Grid (APG). Currently he is working as Senior Energy Consultant for different Projects.
Helene ROBAYE
As head of the Regulation & Market Design team in ENGIE Global Energy Management (Power), Helene is highly involved in the integration of Electricity markets in Europe. Her degree in engineering, combined with 8 years on the field experience within ENGIE trading room allowed her to have a pragmatic and operational view on the functioning of electricity markets in Europe. In particular, she developed knowledge and expertise in portfolio optimization and hedging of assets in a merchant market environment.
One of her current key areas of interests is the integration of day-ahead and intraday markets and in particular, the related capacity calculation. Helene is co-chairing the CORE Flow Based Consultative Group. Helene is also chairing the Market Integration & Network Codes Working Group at Eurelectric.
Nico SCHOUTTEET is an advisor in the Technical Operation on Electricity and Gas Market Directorate at the CREG, the Belgian national regulatory authority for electricity and gas. His work is centered around the facilitation of market coupling and market integration initiatives, notably through the implementation of the European electricity regulation and network codes. At the CREG, he is responsible for market monitoring as well, in particular with regards to the functioning of cross-zonal capacity calculation and allocation mechanisms. Nico Schoutteet is one of the co-chairs of ACER's CACM and FCA Task Forces, chairman of the CACM Pentalateral Coordination Group and an active member of the ACER Electricity Working Group.
Gheorghe VISAN has been working in the Power industry since 1990 as a professional with a degree in electrical engineering. Gheorghe Visan was working as the coordinating Director of the investment activity and investment projects within the TSO Transelectrica between 2003-2011. Mr Gheorghe Visan currently works as the Director of the Energy Markets Division within the Transelectrica, Transmission and System Operator, with a wide scope of activity in the markets in which the Company is active or is administrating, like balancing and ancillary services markets. In his activity, one of his current professional focus is the implementation of European regulations in order to create and develop the European internal market. Mr Visan was the project manager from the Romanian TSO for the 4MMC- market coupling project. Mr. Gheorghe Visan is working since 2018 as chairperson of the Steering Group of the Core Region defined by ACER. Mr. Visan is an active member of the Market Committee of ENTSO-E. Mr. Visan was active also as a member of the Transelectrica board of directors. Mr. Visan is currently a member of the Supervisory Board of JAO. He was also active as a member of the Romanian Live working Association and he has published articles both in the fields of project management and electromagnetic compatibility
Meet the NEMO/TSO speakers:
André ESTERMANN is the convener of the ENTSO-E Market Integration Working which coordinates ALL TSOs obligations under the CACM as well FCA GL. PhD in Economics, he has more than 20 years of experience in energy sector and currently leads at the German TSO 50Hertz various international projects.
Cosimo CAMPIDOGLIO is the NEMO Committee Technical Task Force Co-Leader, former chair of the NEMO Committee. He’s Head of Market Monitoring, Analysis and Statistics at GME, the Italian Energy Exchange, representing GME in many EU fora related to coupling projects.
Kata FEHÉR is the NEMO Committee Reporting and Communication Task Force Leader (TFLD). She is also the TFLD of the Communication TF of the Market Coupling Steering Committee. She is a senior market expert at HUPX, has been working with the Hungarian NEMO since 2010.
Martina GABRIEL is a member of SDAC MSD (Market System Design) group. She is a market development specialist at OTE and worked previously in consulting in France.
Rafael Gómez-Elvira GONZÁLEZ is the chair of the NEMO Committee, former NEMO co-Chair in the SDAC Joint Steering Committee. PhD in Industrial Engineering, he has more than 25 years of experience in energy regulation and currently serves the OMI Group as Director for Public Affairs & Marketing
Miha PREGL works for BSP Energy Exchange in Slovenia, responsible for market integration and strategy development. He is chair of the European Market Coupling Steering Committee, cooperation of NEMOs and TSOs who operate and further develop a single pan-European cross-zonal day-ahead and intraday electricity market. Miha is an expert on setting up power exchanges, with vast experience leading complex market coupling projects in Europe or Western Balkan region and consulting projects for various clients. The main achievements are the finalisation of market integration of the Slovenian electricity market into a single European electricity market, the successful implementation of Core FB market coupling and support to WB6 power exchanges with technical assistance and regulatory set-up.

Alvaro TUREGANO is an energy and technical expert in Directorate of Technology, Innovation and New Developments at OMIE. He is a member of PCR algorithm working group since 2011. Between 2017 and 2021 he has been alternating leader and co-leader roles in NEMO Committee Technical Task Force. He is actively involved in algorithm related methodologies and development of Euphemia algorithm (requirements definition, testing, technical studies, and data analysis).
Vladimir SATEK is SIDC NEMO ID SC Secretary and a chair of SIDC Quality Assurance & Release Management work group. He’s working as a director of Energy Competence Center & Energy Market division, in Indra Czech Republic
